Why polo shirts are often offered in different styles and variations these days.
Why? While the classic polo shirt traditionally has a collar, nowadays there are modern interpretations of the polo shirt that deliberately dispense with the collar.
One reason for this is the change in fashion and the demand for new, innovative designs. Designers and brands like to experiment with different cuts and details to set new trends and stand out from the traditional aesthetic. The lack of a collar can give the polo shirt a modern and minimalist look.
Practical reasons can also play a role. For example, a collarless polo shirt can serve as the basis for layering looks, where another garment such as a cardigan or sweater is worn over it without the collar being distracting.
