Founded in Stockholm in 2011 by Gustav Kjellander and Emil Holmström. The brand name "Brixtol" combines Brixton (London) and Bristol - a reference to British culture and 60's mod influences. Design DNA: British tradition, Scandinavian translation
Brixtol stands for "alternative classics": clear lines, functional details, durable materials. Inspired by British workwear and 1960s mod culture - translated into a calm, Scandinavian design language.
Materials & workmanship
-
Waxed cotton: reliable weather protection against wind and rain, yet breathable and patina-resistant.
-
Often organic cotton (GOTS/OCS depending on the model); wax finish partly in Scotland (Dundee) - traditional wax impregnation.
-
Increased use of GOTS-certified organic cotton in canvas/twill since AW 2019.
Sustainability
Brixtol has been recognized several times for transparency & sustainable identity (e.g. Stockholm Fashion District - "Sustainable Identity" (2023)). Focus: fair conditions, recycled & low-impact materials.
Fits & styles
-
Curtis: classic slightly longer, straight silhouette, corduroy collar, quilted lining - all-rounder for town and country. (Depending on the batch/model: organic cotton, wax finish in Scotland.)
-
Carter: shorter, looks younger & sportier - urban alternative to the Curtis. (Model character; varies according to season.)
-
Kit: same length as Curtis, but with different front patch pockets - functional look.
Tip: In the store, we compare length, shoulder, sleeve width and pocket layout - this is often more important than the clothing size.
Care & maintenance
Wax jackets thrive on proper care. Dry brush off dust/dirt, wipe with a damp cloth. The water repellency can be refreshed with care spray (regularly, thinly and evenly). Do not machine wash/dry. We will be happy to show you how to use it in the store. (Care principle, details vary depending on manufacturer.)
